The public speaking course has been taught in XTMPI for years and ever since I was a child, I couldn't wait to be allowed to be a part of this class. You see, it's not just a class, it's a community. In this course, we learn connection, confidence, respect, empathy and so many more life saving skills. Being a public speaker requires knowing that when making a speech or a presentation, "it's not about you, but the lives you will affect". In order to make a difference in this world, we not only need to be knowledgeable, but we need to be able to express and pass that knowledge to other people. We need to be aware of our audience and we need to find ways to gain their trust, their respect and their interest. "As public speakers", our teacher always said, "we need to be disciplined. We need to realize our responsibilities and be mature enough to work hard in order to complete them." We need to be authentic because if we do not believe in what we are saying, then nobody will believe it either. We need to be passionate, we need to have a purpose, we need to always be prepared and alert. All this, I learned in the public speaking course. It is a life changing experience as it provided me and so many others with social and emotional skills that are going to alter our perception of the world. We started as dreamers, but the public speaking course ensured that we became doers. I am proud for being a part of this class and i encourage everyone to give it a try. When it comes to this course, there are no boundaries. Anyone can become a public speaker, as long as there is patience, will and determination.
